Hi, Not sure where this should eventually go, it might be a bug or a feature request, but starting here. When I try to open something from the "recent projects" list, but the disk is not connected, I (obviously) get an error. However, if I reconnect the disk and reopen the program, any projects from that disk aren't on the 'recent projects' list any longer. It's happened before and caused immense personal confusion and self doubt, but I just realised what was going on this time around. Is there some setting I can fix that with somewhere? Best, Rick

Ignore the following if you are on that BigMac OS! Seriously, this is a function of the OS rather than reaper. When you unplug a USB peripheral, the OS "finds" it from scratch the next time you insert it. This means Reaper thinks it is looking at a new disk and wont assume that files with the same name etc are indeed the files you recently accessed. One thing you might get away with (although I doubt it) would be to make sure you plug the USB connector back in the same USB socket it came from. With all the stuff I plug in and out of my laptop when on the road it frequently gets confused as to what is where.

"Recent files" in Reaper is like the OS feature. It mimics the appearance of a sidebar shortcut to a folder location in your file system. But it's actually a feature, not any kind of file system temp location. So... it follows that shuffling around drives might "break" this feature from time to time. I always thought it was a silly feature than only ends up confusing new computer users into thinking it's an actual folder location on your hard drive. If you simply know where you keep your files and use a few sidebar shortcuts to keep organized it's a moot point. Windows goes by the assigned drive identifier instead of the actual volume name? That doesn't seem like a good idea...

And of course if you KNOW where your files are on the new disk, just go to that location and double click on the project file you want - it will open Reaper with everything in the project loaded and ready to go and Reaper will thereafter know where that file is kept on the new drive. Easy Peasy.
